I love our new wall bed! Like everyone else in the market for one of these, we needed somewhere for guests without losing too much floor space. This bed frame is great and very sturdy! It took my husband and I three hours to build, while taking our time. He can lower & lift it on his own but I do need a little help. All in all, we are very satisfied! We do need to get a rug though because I’m concerned that it could damage our hard wood floors.
My wife and I scoured the internet for a Murphy bed that could fit beneath our basement’s drop ceiling and couldn’t even find a custom one. Then she stumbled on the Lori bed. Not only did it fit, it was also half the price of most Lori beds. We went ahead and spent a little extra to get the finished walnut look, and we were extremely pleased with how nice it looks. Definitely worth it.
We also appreciated how easy it was to put together. My wife and I are not skilled DIYers (in fact I just learned the difference between a drill and driver). We printed out the instructions and watched the how-to video on YouTube and were able to complete it in three days. We spent 3 hours building on the cabinet, 3 hours on the shelf, and then less than an hour securing it to a wall and installing the locks. Except for attaching the lori bed to the wall, we were able to accomplish everything using what’s provided and a corded power drill.
The hardest part for us was attaching the lori bed to our wall in our basement, but that was mostly learning what to do. We attached our lori bed to drywall in front of a concrete wall. We succeeded by purchasing a 3/16” masonry drill bit and using three 2-1/2” 1/4” tapcon screws. Using these tools, we followed the same instructions on YouTube as for wooden studs. The corded drill could drill holes, but not drive the tapcon screws into the concrete. We borrowed a cordless driver with a hammer setting. This drilled even easier into the concrete and allowed us to drive in the screws without camming out. Definitely look up the difference between a drill and driver. Knowing this from the beginning would've made the project even easier.
Received my order within a few days and packaged very well even though boxes were heavy and require two people to lift. I took my time sorting through the parts and laying everything out before assembling. Took me about six hours to assemble by myself. Very happy with finished product. Turned my spare bedroom into an office again as we only have overnight guests maybe 1 to 2 times a year. I would definitely recommend this product!
I have been looking at murphy beds for my guest bedroom and turning room into an office. I researched and contemplated for a while. I am so happy I went with the Lori Wall bed! To get a murphy bed made out of real wood at an affordable price is fantastic! Danielle in customer service was phenomenal!! I had a question on parts for the queen horizontal bed I ordered and minor gap between boards on my part when I put together. I added wood filler and sanded and can't even tell now. I also added slight amount wood filler around edges of screws to help minimize and soften their appearance. Another reason this company rates high in my book is that they do great things like replanting trees and giving some beds away for great causes. Assembly: I put about 90% of the bed together myself with minimal skillset. The assembly video was done well, along with directions, and really helped make the process much easier. I choose to stain and polyurethane myself for coastal feel. If you like their colors it is definitely worth letting them do that part to save on time and labor but love how turned out!! Extremely satisfied with the outcome..Also while definitely would be easier to have two people raise and lower the bed, I have done it so far by myself with little difficulty. Highly recommend this product and company!!
Quality of materials exceeded my expectations. Precision Cuts and pre-drilling was spot on. Written directions and youtube video made assembly a snap. Highly recommend!
I needed to convert my small guest room into a full time office so the bed had to go away. We started looking for a Murphy bed but they all came out too far leaving no room to walk around. I found Lori Wall Beds and was impressed they are solid wood made in America. The base takes up less space than a conventional Murphy bed because they don’t use the folding mechanism. We ordered the white and love it! Putting it together was a little more challenging than I expected only because all the pictures & the video show the one with a finished & unfinished side. With the white we sometimes questioned if we were doing it right and only made one easy fixable mistake. We got the horizontal queen and I would definitely recommend two people to put it up and down. I need to figure out how to cover the large silver washers but it's not a game changer for me. I used peel & stick wallpaper on the inside wall and I love the overall look. Great product and great customer service, Thank You Lori Wall Beds!!
We bought for our kid's home, 3 times a year they need a guest room. It slept great, looks good closed. Grandkids get a play room - our daughter in law is gong to use chalk board paint on it for the little ones! Took my husband about 3 1/2 hours to assemble, he said directions were great.
I put our queen vertical Lori Bed together over two days. The instructions are mostly great, and the YouTube video was very helpful. Everything is well packaged, explained and staged. One note of caution-it is hard to build the bed in a room that is so small that it requires a Murphy bed! And moving the finished cabinet or platform from room to room would be a challenge, but doable. I built my bed in a room that is 10’x10” and I should have removed all of the other furniture first! Also, according to the instructions and the video, the kit is supposed to come with two drill bits but they were not in my packaging. I’d ask the Lori Bed team to include a sheet in each of the three big and heavy boxes that the materials arrives in that lists what pieces are in that box, so you don’t have unload all of the pieces just to find the ones you need first. Lastly, the locking mechanisms need to be close enough to engage, but when they are installed in the right location for locking the cleat on the cabinet gets in the way of closing the platform (See close up photo showing where the locking side rub on the cleat-same on both sides.) With these small issues aside, I’d give this a strong thumbs up!
Love this bed. The versatility of this bed is exactly what we wanted. Highly recommend.
